The skill you develop first is compartmentalization. Your family knows some of it. Your friends know a different version. The people you use with know what you actually are. And there's a version of you that talks to all three groups and keeps the stories straight.

- The first time I tried to get clean
I lasted eleven days. I found out later from a text I sent my sister on day twelve. She had saved the thread. When she showed me, after things were better, we both stared at the screen without saying anything.

- Two years in the records
I filed my first records request in January of 2019. The agency took eleven months to respond. When they did, three pages came back fully blacked out. A fourth was redacted except for the date and a case number. That was when I understood there was a story.

Every investigation has a moment when the official account stops adding up. For the Georgia story, it came down to six days that appear in the primary documents but not in the official timeline. I don't mean they're disputed. I mean they're absent.
